I will look for a great article about the new president that was forwarded to me. He's very much a populist who is concerned with improving the lives of all Ecuadorians. Maybe you will see if he is successful!

I'm curious where the status for civil unions came in. The attitude is the same (I'm not sure if legally they have the same rights) in Argentina. A friend of mine was shocked that in the Argentine church she interned at (where she felt their standards were extremely conservative about dress, tatoos, and time spent alone with men) the church required no extra ceremony for couples who were already together to decide that they were a family. Any idea what influenced this?
