Yes, she made a conscious effort to make a completely different album, from all the interviews I've read. But I think the album is still wholly PJ, just PJ in a new phase. I think that a desire not to settle for the sound you are known for, simply because people are familiar with it, is the mark of a true artist. I certainly don't think she went in this direction for the sake of commercial success! It's not exactly an accessible album. I found it a little difficult to listen to the first 2 times, and then I got sucked in after that! Each time I listen, I hear new elements in it. And I remember reading somewhere (or maybe it was in her dvd), she said was interested in doing albums influenced by physical location, and this one seems to be Dorset. I can't imagine another sound coming from that. And there's my sermon! :)
