In the religious aspects of things I'll say this and you can take it for what you will. Scripture wise, no it's not the way to go. But neither is lying, premarital sex, masturbating, drinking too much and a lot of other things. All of this is a sin in the eyes of God and this is why Jesus died.

Now I have too many damn gay friends to pass any kind of judgment and I know I'm not gay because I like tig 'ol bitties too much. The ultimate point of scripture, and even Jesus said it, is this: Love God and Love you're neighbor as yourself. That said it's not my place to pass judgment if I'm not living perfect my damn self.

So, I acknowledge church and state and that's great, but a universe is bigger than a state and love and respect is bigger than hate. So those cats can do what they do and I'll do what I'll do and in the end we'll give each other dap.

Personally, I say 'get rid of marriage'.

Everyone who gets a 'marriage license' should instead get a 'civil union' license. Go off to the JP...get hitched that way. Be happy. Let it afford EVERYONE the same amount of legal protection, etc.

Then..if you want something religious..get thee down to a church and have a minister do his thing.

However, if you wish to divorce....I say let the 'civil union' peeps seek a 'civil divorce' within the US Courts.

However, if you sought the 'religious marriage' on top of the 'civil union'....then you can have a 'civil' divorce....but it would be up to the laws of your religion whether or not you could end your marriage.

Separate church and state. Separate.

Another good idea! There are some countries....I just read about one (maybe Belgium) recently....where couples HAVE to get married, legally, by a JP type. Then the church ceremony is just for show.
