Title: The Girl in the Locker |
AO3Fandom: World Wrestling Entertainment (at this point in time, it’s a Raw/NXT crossover)
Pairing: (mostly kayfabe) Shayna Baszler/Dakota Kai

Prompt: The Girl in the Tower
Word Count: 465
Summary: Dakota’s still stuck in a locker after New Year’s Evil. Someone saves her.
Dakota Kai didn't think she'd be rescued immediately from the locker Rhea Ripley shoved her in after the Last Woman Standing match. Raquel González didn't need Dakota's help to win the match. And from the sound of the crowd, it sounded like Raquel did win the match. If Raquel stopped to move the road case in front of the locker's door, she might've lost.
The audience left the Capital Wrestling Center. Dakota thought someone would rescue her after the audience left. Then she thought someone would rescue her as the stagehands started cleaning up and preparing the NXT ring for future practices and taping. When Dakota heard the lights turn off in the Capital Wrestling Center and no one moved the road case in front of the locker, she knew something was wrong. She immediately regretted not yelling and trying to bang her body around in the locker after the audience left.
Dakota refused to use her cell phone while the show was going on. Of course she would remember her phone well after the show was over. And it was on silent. She probably missed calls wondering where she was at. Dakota groaned as she pulled out her phone. She decided it was too late to go through her missed calls. First she sent off a Tweet. Then she went into her contacts and pulled out a text thread she started with Raquel. Where are you?, she wrote. Still stuck in locker. Send someone to help!
Dakota sent the text, thinking it was Raquel. Minutes later, she heard the road case rolling away from her locker. The locker door opened. Dakota felt she'd see Raquel on the other side.
Instead the sight on the other side of the locker door surprised Dakota. She didn't even have to look at her face. The sunglasses on her head were a tip-off. Dakota didn't need to even look at the rest of her wardrobe to know it was her. The leather jacket with the black spikes. Some sort of screened t-shirt. Dark jeans and boots. Shayna Baszler was at the empty Capital Wrestling Center.
"You never changed your emergency number after I went to Raw. Guess who was called when nobody was able to get in contact with you."
Dakota maneuvered herself out of the locker. She walked slowly towards Shayna. Grabbing Shayna's face, Dakota planted a kiss on her lips. Shayna returned the kiss, briefly putting a smile on her face. Shayna returned to a steely facade as if someone was watching her, trying to decipher her weaknesses.
"Same old Dakota. Same old scared little girl." Shayna cleared her throat. "Let's go home," she said in a softer voice.
Never mind, just got rescued, Dakota texted to Raquel.
