Oh, yeah, I love Mistful's recaps!

Strangely this made me think of Ginny proving herself as Harry's girl by killing Nagini in the next book. I know it sounds crazy, but at least it rhymes.

Heh. I'd rather see Nagini prove herself as Harry's ideal girl and kill Ginny! ;)

His smile to Frank in the opening scene was no less than Voldemort-esquely evil.

I thought he seemed much better in the end scene where he tells Voldemort that he was the only one who came back, and sort of ducks his head and cringes. And when Voldemort says 'Other arm' and he pouts like a toddler! ;) It's just the killing scenes, really.

I didn't like his looks at all, from what I remember having admittedly seen the film only once.

The angle he was shot from at the beginning was great, then comes the Morsmordre bit where he bares his teeth in a rictus grin, and the illusion kinda fell apart.

Tom Riddle in CoS. Hope the same actor will appear in at least some flashbacks in HBP.I wasn't overly enamoured with that guy the first time I saw it - I thought he was ( ... )

Which lines do you refer to? [especially interested what could TF say]

Oh, no, that was my bad, I meant 'lines' like as in 'wrinkles'.

which imo is only an improvement.

Yeah, Harry is a little too macho in the books - combined with the whole treatment of Cho, there's almost a scorn of emotion that's expressed in traditionally feminine ways. Harry's and Sirius' anger is fine, since it's aggressive and outwardly directed, but there's a certain sense of the ridiculous with tears: for example, Molly and Hagrid are two of the few adult characters who cry openly, and they're pretty low on the dignity front. I'd like to see Harry cry properly (I think he might have in HBP, although it was skimmed over pretty quickly?) - it'd make me feel more sympathetic to him, rather than see it as a weakness, like Rowling seems to fear people doing.

Which I hope is NOT canon. Remember how people considered Narcissa a bad, distant & unloving mother? Me too.Bad fathers seem more common in the Potterverse than moms, though ( ... )

Oooh, I was hoping you'd get round to this. I heart recaps.

Of course no-one considers not rooting for Ireland, being British

But Ireland is not a part of Britain, they were our vile oppressors! That's like saying nobody from England would consider not rooting for America since they used to be part of the Empire.

I do agree that Cho's awfully cute. Awfully, awfully. I never like Scottish accents on boys, and I was stunned to be slain by her adorableness. Go Ravenclaws, they're so fine!

I also really like the little Ginny actress. She and Dan are going to be tiny and not hot in HBP! Maybe I'll really like them together. I used to ship Harry/Ginny, you know. Those were happy days, before all the hot flashes of pain... feels like a monster in my brain, don't you know...

Heh, that's why Ireland wouldn't root for England, maybe. But really, it was a choice for our heroes of supporting our near neighbours or else the filthy Bulgarians; which is no choice at all.

I used to ship Harry/Ginny, you know.

I never liked it much, but Old!Ginny seems like a beautiful dream compared to her usurper. *lights a candle for the poor murdered soul, who's probably befriended Myrtle by now*

But yeah, HBP's gonna be pretty weird, with that pair as the Big Couple on Campus.
Not to mention, the movie's going to have to show us the elusive Bat Bogey Hex (I keep thinking JKR's going to make that like, Niles' wife on Frasier or something, and just never ever show it) which will make it ten times harder to see Movie!Ginny as some sassy sexpot.

* Hermione enters. She’s frankly kind of a shrew in this film - I guess because there’s no SPEW for her to release her energies onto, but then she was totally unaffected by the pressure on her in POA (apart from to channel even more ‘girl power’ *vomits*) so I guess it all evens out.

She also often sounds as if she'll cry at the slightest provocation. I wonder how they are gonna show Harry's annoyance at Cho's tears without him looking like a huge hypocrite when Hermione is the big crybaby of the movies? You know, instead of just making him look like an uncaring asshole.

* Ron’s horrified as Hermione approaches his bed to wake him up.
To be honest, Rupert Grint plays as if Ron genuinely doesn’t fancy Hermione in this film

I'm pretty sure I once read an interview with him where he wasn't exactly thrilled about this pairing. And who would blame him, reading it is bad enough for me, but actually playing it?

* Aw, I tell a lie, Ron sounds really worried that Harry was gone! But of course only Hermione gets to yell for him, whereas ( ... )

Not to mention, he's sobbed in the last two himself. (I kinda want to make an icon of him over Cedric's body with the text 'human hosepipe' ;)
But yeah, it's gonna be pretty weird for the audience: 'Feel sorry for Hermione over a minor sadness like having a fight at the end of her prom, but sneer at Cho who's boyfriend was murdered'?

Guess Harry wasn't the only one that noticed the handsome Hufflepuff.

God, Cedric/anyone is more interesting than Cedric/Harry. I mean, I get how people can squee over all the 'Cedric so hot' mentions and the bathroom tip-off and all, but really, can you imagine shipping it? 'Oooh, Harry, you're so honourable', 'No, you are, Ceddykins!' It's possibly the most vanilla slash ship I can think of, except maybe Dean/Seamus.

What a fantastic recap!

I really enjoyed this, and am very much looking forward to the next installment. In fact, you may even have convinced me to rent the damned movie already, if only so that I can have fun watching along with you.
