I don't know ... I ended up feeling sorry for Bonnie Wright after watching this. Poor kid, stuck with playing the one-dimensional Ginny. And with the huge contrast ever present between her and the super!awesome!beautiful!Ginny of the canon.
Yeah, I saw some interview with her where they basically had to describe their character's journey in all the movies/books and she was pretty much like 'Well, I become the Love Interest'. Ain't that the truth!
As for looks, Book!Ginny is pretty much on par with the Veelas (complete with the harpy inside ;) no mortal woman could ever live up to that standard.
Which is why Ginny comes across as more likable/believable to me in the movies than in the books. She seems a bit earnest and awkward, because of the stiffness, and not all chill and nonchalantly awesome.
LOL, I think she almost benefits from having easily the flattest character in the series. It avoids questions about her lack of acting. (Of course, she's not alone with this cast! ;)
This film was probably my favourite of the bunch, though, if only for Draco.
Yeah, they improved it a lot from the book, but you can't really make anything from these two, imho, Ginny was more of a mother figure than anything else.
ROFL, I didn't even think about the icon! It's kinda sad that a Watchmen couple is more romantic than one in a kid's book...
Definitely. I think they sort of went more in a slightly creepy mother/son vibe (wiping his nose, feeding him, tying his laces) than the flat-out Mary Sue loves Gary Stu JKR version. But Bonnie Wright seems to be a sweeter, more likeable Ginny, I couldn't see her constantly screaming and hexing people.
Hahaha, yeah, they cut all the horrible scenes from the book and made them bearable, but they added new ones. Maybe the feeding and shoelaze tying scenes would have served their intended purpose if people like say the Lavender actress had played those two, but with these two, it just looks like they're pretending to be mother and son.
I like Bonnie's Ginny, too, but she doesn't have much chemistry with Daniel Radcliff.
LOL, I loved the girl playing Lavender, she was awesome.
I think they just figured, instead of giving Ginny 85 personality changes, let's just skip to her inevitable role - mommy! To her husband as well as her kids, naturally.

I'm not an abusive!Harry theorist, but that icon is also eerily appropriate.
