He had never been able to resist the call to adventure Jack always brought with him.

That is a *FANTASTIC* last line. Bravo.

A different take on the usual idea of someone staying with Will - him going with them! I like it!

Like the mod, I have to say the last line is a great end, and the story didn't end the way I thought it would. I'm glad that after so long, Will still has that spark of curiosity that will carry him to further adventures, instead of being jaded by his long life (death?) and service.

(And the sex - understated, affectionate, but not idealized. It sounds like it would be between men, if that makes any sense. Not that I know firsthand what that's LIKE. But still. It sounds right up there.)

Thanks for my present!

I'm not just talking about the way one of the partners frequently takes on a "feminine" role, but there's something in the way that some people write male slash that seems to take away the masculinity of the characters./guiltily raises hand - Yeah, I've done that once or twice. In my defense, it was a long time ago when I knew almost nothing about slash, and I've hopefully improved on that score since then. LOL ( ... )

What a lovely reversal on the usual story of this premise! I am glad to see Will finally set free. Moreover, it seems appropriate that it's Jack who sounds the siren call rather than Elizabeth. She may be over beyond that horizon from another point of entry for him to find at last. But As Jack was the one to set both of them to sea, to the call of adventure (I swear I'm hearing the brass bay of horns in the air!), it's fitting that it's him ( ... )

I so needed that.

Thank you, thank you for letting them be, and head out to find new worlds, together.

Out of the very many things to love about the story, I think I'll think of this, and smile;

A death at sea meant, Will was sure, that Jack had died happy, if perhaps a little annoyed.

That was great! So very Jack Sparrow to put all that time and effort into dodging death, but then be laid back about facing it when it can't be dodged any more. Not to mention his sensible, navigational analysis of Homer. Bonus points for 'psychopomp'. And Teh WALK.
