I found a great job to apply for, Biological Technician for the Fish and Wildlife Service here in Mass, nice pay and benefits for a year long position. But I don't know if I want to start a new job with the US government a few months before I start hormones ( Read more... )

Apply! If you get it, then you can figure out what you next move is from there. Is there use in worrying about a situation which absolutely will not occur if you don't apply?

I second Lord Quackington. If you apply, you will A) Have the opportunity to get the job. B) have a far better grasp of what the job entails and how transition would/would not affect it C) still have to option to say no, if it seems like a yucky position, bad timing etc. D) Have an opportunity to have health insurance.

So unless an unsuccessful application or turning them down would prevent you from ever, ever, ever getting re-hired, you don't have much to loose.
