I am in this odd mood that is a mixture of depression and anger. My life has been just shitty lately and nothing has been going right at all. I would be willing to bet that those "deep intimate relationships" are neither all that deep, nor all that intimate. The public mask and the private face are probably very different. And if they're not deserving to be in a relationship with anyone, perhaps, in some ways, they deserve each other. Two crusty monkeys dated each other means two less crusty monkeys for non-crusty folks to deal with. Think of it as natural selection, they'll inbred, become infertile and/or nonviable, and die out. They're doing us a favour. ;)
