How in hell had Meredith ended up with a weekend off? Maybe she'd requested it? Maybe she'd finished everything early because she wanted some time to do nothing but wander aimlessly. Whatever it was, after she'd spent the night in the bar dealing with the alcholics and wayward souls, her Saturday was blissfully open ( Read more... )

"Relaxed?" Eddie asked. He was standing over Meredith with a large grin on his face. Unfortunately, it seemed as if he was always up too early on Saturday and either doing research in the library or recovering from some large event from the previous evening.

This Saturday ended up being a combination of the two. Riley's birthday had been the evening before and while Eddie had spent a large amount of time there, he opted to leave before he was too plastered to wake up early enough the next morning to get a jump on a paper that was due in a week.

He had just happened to be walking back toward his dorm from the library when he spotted someone lying on a bench and almost instantly recognized the person as a teaching assistant from his charms class. Remembering their conversation a few days prior, Eddie decided it was time for him to actually talk to her outside of the classroom and in person.

Oh, now this was interesting. She'd never actually talked to Eddie outside of class in person. He amused her though, through the little bit of interaction they had together. This was possibly worth giving up doing nothing for.

"In a manner of speaking," Meredith shrugged or at least tried to. It was a bit difficult given the position. She closed her book but otherwise didn't move from where she was lying. Luckily, he happened to be blocking the sun and it wasn't cold enough to drive her inside just yet.

"These benches aren't meant for prolonged use. Why are you up so early? Didn't go to Riley's party?" That she highly doubted, everyone went to Riley's parties. Save her, but she was working.

In an attempt to not look as if he was staring at her, Eddie moved his eyes from Meredith's face and scanned the immediate area looking for other signs of life before shrugging, "Don't hate on the benches. I've fallen asleep on them plenty of times. They serve a purpose, even if it isn't a comfortable one."

She was right. Everyone went to Riley's parties. "I was there. Not all night, albeit for several hours. I don't remember seeing you there." Eddie totally skipped over her question, deciding it was too boring to talk about school-related activities.

"The benches are horrible. You, darling, are just fortunate enough to be able to pass out on anything, I'm guessing." Shaking her red hair back from her face, Meredith dropped her feet off the bench to sit up like a proper human being.

"Some of us had to keep the other alcoholics in town well supplied," she shrugged. "Besides, I've been to enough of his parties. Missing one isn't going to hurt me."

Head tilted, she studied him for a moment, eyes squinting due to the light. "I think I may have been slightly wrong about you," she finally decided.
