So everytime I think of moving to portland I get scared. It's soo ironic. When I wasn't sure I was going I had no fears now that nothing is stopping me, I'm terrified. Hi Melinda.

I understand being worried about making friends in Portland - heck, I was worried about making friends in Columbus when I moved down here. What I would do if I were in your shoes is see if there are any neat Portland Livejournal communities that you can join. In Columbus, we have a Livejournal meetup and other types of communities for social interacting off line. I'm sure there lefty/feminist/people of color Portland LJ groups that may have offline meeting and the like.

It may sound nerdy to meet people online, but I've actually met some really great friends who I hang out with in "real life" on LJ. (Like
