I kinda subscribe to the whole end theme of Candide... that we all ought to simply tend our gardens, etc. etc. So, while it's great to be an activist and try to make the world a better place, it's also great to make your life better. I haven't found another job yet, but I have been looking (though not TOO hard - trouble is, with only one car, dad wants to get a job first... he's just encouraging me to keep working on my art and get that out there). Long story short on the publishing company - it was a temp position (didn't know that when I applied), and they'd have to buy out my contract to hire me on... so they kept me for ninety days, then HR decided it wasn't worth the paperwork just to keep me for a month more. When the work ran out, I had to go.
