Still not done with Infinite Crisis

Jan 09, 2015 09:51

But it's getting closer. There's only about 20 unread issues left now so I guess that's about two more posts about it. Or maybe I can fit it all into one more.

Kind of boring OMAC Project tie-ins. The middle one had a horrible slaughter of meta-humans which I thought was really fucking grim and dark.
The last issue was just a long fightscene with a bunch of superpowered villains introducing themselves, and then getting beaten up. What was the point?
Anyway. Some members of the Shadowpact showed up, that was nice. I really like Ragman.

More Shadowpact. Seriously really like this team, if Secret Six got their own comic after this does that mean these guys got one as well? I'd totally read it.

Occasionally confusing, but enjoyable. There were some jokes that worked which was nice.

There was also a one panel flashback of Aquaman giving back the Blue Devil's weapon and telling him to keep better track of it because in these times Aquaman doesn't have time to search the sea for lost weapons.
Makes me wonder if it's a recurring thing, superheroes showing up on the shore and asking Aquaman if he could please, pretty please, find whatever thing they've accidentally lost at sea. Poor Aquaman, no respect.

Marvel family was there, still know almost nothing and yet I know things about them... So weird. But looks like Captain Marvel is gonna have to be trapped inside a rock for the rest of his life. Poor Billy Batson. I feel sorry for the kid, I'd go stir crazy if I had to be trapped inside a freaking rock.

Also, I know next to nothing about Dr Fate's powers, and even though he said that the helmet wouldn't have quite the same powers I would guess that it's still extremely powerful. So isn't it terribly irresponsible to just throw it away so that anyone could pick it up? With great power comes great responsibilities! This seems like a particularly stupid idea and I know Batman would agree with me. ... ... ... Please let us never acknowledge that final statement ever again.

Want more Shadowpact... Also before I finish writing this update I'm gonna find a suitable comic related LJ icon... (preferably one with the DC logo and text saying "I regret every decision I've made that led me here")

Have I mentioned that I hate the Joker and wish him to be killed off permanently? Preferably by Jason before this storyline is over... It won't happen but a girl can dream.

Um... Isn't Tim in BLüdhaven as well? Or did he leave maybe. Yeah, he left with Cassie I think. Okay. Well then that's all well and... Wait is Dick there?! Nooo! DICK!

You know what Batman... I'm finding myself on Jason's side a lot and I'm supposed to be against the death penalty. But really in the choice between taking down Jason and... ugh... saving the Joker or going to the ruined Blüdhaven to look for your SON there's really only one choice to be made. Though after Jason gave you those options he stopped you from leaving so... I don't know. He's a bit unstable...

"I forgive you for not saving me. But why, why on god's earth is HE still alive?"
Fuuuuck yessss. So good.

"Because he took me away from you" oh, Jason, you poor murderous boy. Is it wrong to have a "I want yo hug you"-impulse?

Why Batman, why? Okay, I know why you had a whole speece about why. And I know that I theoretically agree with you... But I really fucking despise the Joker and wish he was dead.

And then it just ends with an exxplosion and that frustrating little "1 year later" thingy because next issue has to take place a year later and just... It's not finished. Nothing is finished. Everything is sad and angsty and wrong.
But I guess I will just have to continue reading.

Oh my god that is a complicated set up for your plan. I really don't like this Luthor dude.

Nooo! Don't hit Conner! My baby! Stupid evil Superboy I don't like Superboy Prime he is whiny and evil.

JAIME! Booster! X)

No, a page of Bruce and Dick does not make me cry. Of course not. Bruce practically gushing over Dick's ability to connect to people, to keep friendships strong. Dick saying that of course he knows Bruce cares about others he just can't show it in ordinary ways. And then

Bruce:"The early years they were good for you right?"
Dick: "The best."
I'm not getting teary eyed and my heart isn't going to burst from these overwhelming FEELINGS!
Fucking bats being emotionally compromising again. Why do they always do this to me?

TITANS TOGETHER!
MY HEART CAN'T TAKE THIS! ACTUAL TEAM OF ACTUAL FOUND FAMILY!

Hm... I did a miscalculation... I have to take a break in this one now and read some Flash...

If you haven't seen the cover for #228 you totally should because it's the greatest cover in the history of ever. X)

Wally thinking of the museum as closet space for him is amusing. Of course he also thinks of it as a monument to Jay and Barry. Which is something I adore about Wally, his respect and admiration of those who came before him. Buuut he's mostly ashamed of having a museum built in his honor. None of the other superheroes have that. but The Flash isn't like everyone else, it's a very special legacy.

Something's been stolen from the museum who does Wally invite to look for it? Well, it's not the World's greatest detective, but it's someone better. Hi Nightwing! :D BESTIES! <3

Dick recomending Wally geting a cave. X)

Yeah... Wally... Everyone could tell it was a horrible horrible mistake before you even made it. Seriously.

Next issue opens with.. Well what I assume is yet another potential flash forward thing that's just awfully depressing.
So lets move on to saying how awesome it is reading and watching Jay mock Vandal Savage. Go Jay! :D I don't think a single person coloring in DC can keep track of Jay's hair color, but whatever. Jay Garrick is awesome.

I am not impressed with this guy's writing however. Which is sad because it's the last issues. :/

But, I think the fact that it ended happily made it worth it. Because I wanted them to have a happy ending. With Wally and Linda raising their kids. Even if that won't technically happen... Or something who knows... Anyway. Back to Infinite Crisis!

Alright, to catch us up again. My three favorite Flashes have taken the whiny cry-baby (Superboy Prime) and are rushing off with him dowing what speedsters do best running.

But then Jay loses speed and then Wally is swept off to Linda. Because Linda is his beacor, the love of his life, the most important person to Wally, his everything and now oh my heart.

Wally: "I have to let go."
Linda: "No you don't. Wherever you are going your family is going with you"

And then she kisses him and there's speed force effects and lightning and everything is making me have ALL the FEELINGS! MY OTP! My Wally!

I think I need a moment...

asnfadkgfnkdssd! MAAAAX! Max Mercury! And Johnny Quick! ALL THE SPEEDSTERS! MY FAVORITES FOREVER.

Nooooo, what happened the Earths split in two??? This can't possibly be good... Except for how I want there to be a multiverse but I don't want it to come back and take the real Earth's place...

Dick, honey please don't blame yourself.
Didn't really have much else, other than. Oh my god Dick I love you. I love your fucking dedication. Your amazing hope. I love everything about you.

Basically just a teen titans focused version of the Infinite Crisis #4 But it was good as well. Family. Teen Titans is family. And Superboy was with Robin and Cassie who both still care for him despite what he did. Oh my heart.

A lot of the Gods being strange, mysterious, weird what have you. One day I'm gonna actually read more Wonder Woman... And it's still going to be slightly weird...
Anyway, hope. Hope is what we get to take away from this issue, and I like hope. Hope is a very nice thing.

Yay! Teen Titans!
The time line here has to be a little wonky, and definitely strange that I read the Robin issues before Superboy's battle with the crybaby since this is why Cassie came an got Robin. Which means that Robin was present for Superboy vs Superboy prime, then left and went back to Blüdhaven only for Cassie to show up and take him to the tower... I just... What? Never mind. Trying to figure out these things will drive me crazy instead lets focus on what's important.
So much Teen Titans goodness in these two issues.
Cassie being badass like the awesome amazonian she is. Seriously she was amazing in every way.
I am going to read Green Arrow because Mia is definitely growing on me, even though she's barely been featured.
Tim and Kon and FRIENDSHIP! Okay, so I ship them but only because I love that they are friends. Forever. And Tim told Kon that he had to hang on and Kon promised he would and then there were tears (okay, maybe not but I could have cried).
Lots of Beast Boy, maybe too much but I like him and how he always jokes.
Really, really enjoyed them.
I hope that with the next issue being the 1 year later thing and having a change of writers that the whole army thing will just be swept away and ignored and never talked about because it's stuch a stupid plot.
