We are cursed?

There are no birds. No birds.

I have seen seagulls ominously circling overhead. I have heard a blackbird singing the dawn chorus. Ben has even seen sparrows - sparrows! - hopping around outside the front door ( Read more... )

Are there cats in the neighbourhood?

Not many. I haven't seen any. Ben says there's one across the road. I certainly haven't seen any in the garden anyway. But then there also aren't many trees or bushes in the immediate vicinity. But still, two weeks!

If you have problem cats, let me know. I might take you up on that offer of a visit ;) My new Night Vision equipment on my rifle really does pick out cats well. Actually, my previous NV stuff did too, but I've only tested the new stuff in my back garden and it really picks out one of the neighbour's cats sneaking around in the bushes really well. I can attach the new stuff to a video input connection (e.g. on my laptop) and I may write some computer enhancement software to do false colour images. That'll make warm things look red or white against a darker background. My new laser sighting system does range finding as well and compliments the milliradian marks on my mil-dot scope so knowing where to aim is dead easy. I've been testing some new ammo recently too, which is just mmmmm.

Word has to spread, you know - Bird One has to check it out, and pass on the info that, you know, Meson's back garden is _the_ place to, like, hang out...

Birds one and two will come back, and bring thier friends, and they'll in turn bring their friends, until your feeder table will be over-run. At which point, bird one will say "God, this place has gone like, SOOOO downhill", and bird two will reply "Yeah, I remember when it was nice and quiet.. them were the days.. lets go somewhere else.."

Keith (Sorry.. bored today ;-) )

I'd settle just for Bird One right about now. Can you point him in this direction please :P

I was just about to type that :) It does take time for the birds in the area to realise that - Hey! there's grub here! Sal, Vinny! Come join me in the luscious feast!

Also, I don't know what the temps have been like over there, but you'll *definitely* start seeing the birds feed when the weather gets colder! they must eat to survive, damnit!

Yeah, Ben just asked his dad about it and he said *exactly* that.

I think it's just that I'm used to at least seeing birds flitting around in the bushes and hearing them somewhere, but they just don't seem to be around here much at all. I think it's because we're an unappealing patch of houses surrounded by lots of woods and fields on every side, so why fly into the middle of here.

I'll just try and be more patient!

But not a single living creature has dared to venture into our back garden.

How did you put the bird-feeders out?

Who said Meson is alive? I've seen her protoblood...

Yes, but then she'd still be alive-dead, not dead-dead.

Well, according to Stanley, at any rate.

But Kia often corrected him to point out that the first "alive" really meant "animated". Why did they never use the supply of protoblood in 790s head that was intended to keep his brain bit alive for 500 years?
