Shiver Me Timbers! I've had a white ring on the book case my grandfather made a generation or so ago, so I did what any thoughtfull, modern granddaughter would do, I looked it up on the internet. The page I found suggested using an iron over a white cloth and spot and, lo, one shot of steam and the spot was gone. It looks the like finish was

I remember being really into Mercedes Lackey at 13 (did I just admit that?), and her Children of the Night has a decent vampire mythology.

There was a series here in the late 90s called Ultraviolet Ro loved, but I don't remember how 13-appropriate it was. It was on the BBC tho, so while it might have naughty language, there won't be much visible blood and gore.
