I think every year we have another Art Club trip they get better and better. This year we were supposed to go to Philly but then it got changed and I was sooo happy.
We left at 6 AM, and I have never seen Kylie so hyper. She had only gotten 3 hours of sleep but, well, see for yourself:
So I tried to sleep but we put in Moulin Rouge. I had to watch that, of course, but everyone was complaining so Maria and I just listened to Kylie's soundtrack instead. Thennn when we got there we had to actually go through an underwater bridge this time! See, I'm not stupid, I was just off by a few miles. Anyway, we didn't check into the hotel until way late that night. We stopped at Rockefeller Center first and Kylie, Maria and I were all walking around in a little group, scared someone was going to mug us even though it was broad daylight and we were surrounded by tourists.
We tried some shopping but it was all too expensive. Then we went to the Whitney? I think, which was sooo weird but really cool with all these political, modern, obsene pieces and videos and stuff. I will never forget that preview of Culigula (however you spell it).
We went to Central Park, also, which was cool but mainly we were led around by Vicky, our tour guide who reminded me of Mrs. Hlywa, and we took pictures:
Thennn we got dropped off again to do more shopping, and the 3 of us were determind to find Strawberry, so we ran around and learned that part of the city in like 1/2 hour. Then we changed into our new clothes and ate at Spanky's BBQ, which had awesome food, and then we went to see Rent! It was so amazing, way better than the movie, and I couldn't stop singing it the rest of the weekend.
Finally we got to the hotel and checked in, it was really nice, and we ate Kylie's junk food (there's an oxymoron for ya) and went to bed. When we woke up the next morning Alex was in there which surprised me because I forgot she was in our room lol
Early start and off to boring museums, but we got to go to 34th Street after that. Forever 21 is huuuuge there, so more spending and long lines and big sunglasses for Kylie to try on.
Then we went back to the hotel and got ready for the dinner dance, which was fun. It was a way bigger boat than before and the food was amazinggg (notice how much I loved the food on this trip lol) and we were all dressed up pretty. But the other schools were like Junior High schools and the staff was bitching at us all night, so I didn't really care when we had to leave.
We accidently locked Alex out that night which was unfortunate, because supposedly there were strippers and druggies roaming the halls. Damn, I always miss everything when I'm asleep. Anyway, the next day was Chinatown day! But first we visited the World Trade Center, well, what's left of it. It was so moving; everyone was looking through the fence and there wasn't much talking. No one was allowed to sell anything around there but this old man was sitting up against a pole and playing "Amazing Grace" on a wooden flute. It was pretty but also kind of erie the way it fit.
Chinatown was nuts; every five feet Asians were asking us "Coach? Coach?" and of course we followed them, which was reallyyyy nervewrecking at first because we chose to follow a little Chinese girl into this old locked building and up to the top of a set of stairs. Yeah, real smart, but Maria had her hand on the speed dial button on her phone in her pocket. The purses they had sucked, anyway.
I didn't find anything but it was fun looking, and Kylie, Maria, Boo and I went into a resturaunt for dinner where Maria got glared at for eating a peanut putter and jelly sandwich instead of ordering Chinese and I got ripped off by the waiter cuz I couldn't understand a thing he was saying.
Then I really wanted a cannoli so we ran into a pastry shop in Little Italy where there was a Chinese girl behind the counter. Ah well, it was a damn good chocolate chip cannoli.
We walked for like 10 blocks looking for the bus and then headed out for home. It was like coming back to reality after being removed from the whole world for 3 days. I can't wait to go back :-D
