I'd almost forgotten to post this.
A couple nights ago, we were facing stuff and getting ready to close, it's about 9:15, and I'm running back and forth closing the lab and facing toys. I see a customer walk by carrying something and looking extremely pissed off. So, because I'm good at customer service, I ask her if I can help her with anything.
As background, Green Walls constantly has music going over the PA system. Occasionally they'll have ads play between songs, and any announcements employees make interrupts the music.
POL = Pissed off lady.
MrP = manager on duty that night, awesome guy, also good at customer service.
me = I can haz old school rock late at night?
me: Can I help you with anything, ma'am?
POL: This music is terrible! It's offensive and insulting!
me: O_o;.. um.
POL: The last song they played was about some guy wanting to get a girl into his bed to spoon with her!
me: (thinks: spooning isn't as bad as some things...) I'm sorry to hear that. I don't really notice the music much anymore.
POL: can't you turn it off? it's very loud and offensive!
me: I don't think we can turn it down, no...
POL: I can't believe this, the music is just terrible! **walks off ranting to herself**
me: .....buh.
So I go and track down my manager, and eventually find him in the same aisle as her. I let him know that she had a question, then stand back to see if he fares any better.
MrP: Yes ma'am, did you need anything?
POL: This music is just awful, it's so insulting, the last song was about some guy wanting to get a girl into his bed to spoon her!
MrP: I'm sorry to hear that..
POL: It's so loud and obscene, turn it off!
MrP: We can't turn it off at store level, ma'am, it's satellite from corporate.
POL: Turn it off! It's horrible!
MrP: I can't do that, ma'am.
POL: Then send an email to corporate, tell them it's horrible!
MrP: I'll do that, ma'am. Is there anything else I can help you with?
POL: No. **keeps ranting to herself**
So MrP and I go over to the photo lab, where he starts helping me shut down the machines.
MrP: How do you think I handled that?
me: better than I could've, sir.
MrP: I could tell you were kinda pissed off back there.
me: why would we kill the music? Yeah, some of it sucks, but then we wouldn't have the good stuff, like this.
**Blue Oyster Cult's "Don't Fear the Reaper" is playing over the music thing**
me: I grew up with this stuff, I love it.
LESS THAN THIRTY SECONDS LATER...
POL: and this! This is just terrible!
MrP: ma'am?
POL: This is a song about death and loving the reaper and it's just awful!
MrP: O_o
me: >_< **busies self with machines and tries to ignore it**
I don't know if she actually bought anything or if she just left, as my register was closed, but asdfalsdnk she drove me crazy, and now whenever some songs come over the intercom, I can't help but think that she'd have a fit over them. AUGH.
