The Doctor's been restless practically ever since Donna left, but it's their first full day apart now, and he's become markedly worse. Sylvia shooed him out into the yard earlier in the morning, when he decided to start tinkering with the kitchen appliances (microwaves are so slow sometimes!), and now he's plucking leaves of grass and splitting them apart one by one. He's a bit surprised that he hasn't denuded half the yard yet. The orange tabby from the night Donna found him is curled up next to him in a splotch of sunlight, and he occasionally reaches over and strokes it, the rumbling of its purr giving him a bit of comfort.
He finally stretches out on his back, forcing himself to count the leaves on the oak tree by the wooden fence - and doing it in binary, to boot. If that doesn't keep him sufficiently distracted, well, he's not sure what else he'll be able to do.
