I sat in church yesterday... it was empty but hymns were blasted through the speakers. There is something very moving, very emotional about religious 'sounds' from the holy lands.
There is power in music/hymns/chants that call on something deeper within us.
I loved the ritual of the Greek Orthodox Church- all of the sights and sounds- but none of the sexism. The sexism was not something I could participate in and support. I appreciate the sound of spirituals/ gospel from just about every religious group, but the lyrics are a turn off. I love the gospel music at the Agape International Spiritual Center- the lyrics and the music work for me. agapelive.com go to streaming, choir Sunday 2nd service is usually the best.
the word "gospel" means good news, so true gospel music- YES, but it is very rare.
