I see too often that everyone misses college and wants to go back. Unfourtunately, I can't really say the same. It was alright,I guess, I didn't make as many friends as I wanted to, I have regressed socially somewhat, I did not satisfy my goals in the relationship department, and my academics were mediocre proceeding into substandard ( Read more... )

eh - the first year of college sucks for everyone - no matter what they say. it gets better until you actually miss it when you graduate. hang in there baby.

you describe pretty much exactly the same thing I did freshman year. except late that year I decided on law school, and then saw what kind of GPA you needed at lots of schools, so I didn't "kind of want" to do better but was "determined" to do better. Also I was not itching for a relationship, as I was in one with your sister (mindy).

you don't need pep talks about your ability to succeed if you want but my only advice which is everyone's advice is office hours, office hours, office hours. Not only do they give you a chance to get to know professors but for me my bi-weekly/monthly trip to office hours forced me to really get up to speed with the important/interesting stuff for the class so I'd have questions. Otherwise it's hard to stay on task mid-semester.
