Have you seen that, "This is what I support, open to find out." Facebook group? It's some basic conservative rhetoric that I'd like to pick apart.

Use the death penalty (Why should a murderer get a second chance at life when they stole that chance from their victims???) , ban gay marriage, ban abortion, go ahead... try and take my guns, I'll give you a bullet, quit bitchin about the war... we're there... we're going to be there for a while... deal with it... our brothers/sisters/parents/
children/friends are over there protecting your right to hate the war... but at the very least you could support our troops and sailors over there... quit bitchin about President Bush... he's the President for pete's sake... show a little respect... Also... I'm a firm believer that if you burn our national flag that generations have fought and died to protect, your citizenship should be revoked... that's the symbol of our freedom... if you don't like it leave bitch... they could use a few more communists in Cuba...

I won't argue with the death penalty thing, I've been on the fence of that issue for years. Same for the gay marriage/abortion thing. Those are subjective, there aren't really any facts to bandy about. The guns thing might be a joke, I mean...come on. What kind of responsible gun owner would disobey the law (if it was in fact changed) and not give up their guns. Responsible people follow the law.

The next part is my favorite "quit bitchin about the war... we're there... we're going to be there for a while... deal with it... our brothers/sisters/parents/
children/friends are over there protecting your right to hate the war... but at the very least you could support our troops and sailors over there" I love the attitude of the phrase. "Our" loved ones are fighting. As in the people who support the war. Like people who disagree with the war don't have relations fighting it. And seriously, people who disagree don't hate America's military.

Come on, support the president just because he's president? So, when a democrat gets elected, and he does all the things you hate, I'll remind you to support him. SHOW SOME RESPEKT.

Flag burning? This old chestnut? A lot of conservatives have some reasonable points to make about this act. Mostly that there are more constructive and respectful forms of protest, and that if you dislike America so much, why not leave? Well, I mean, yeah, flag burning? You probably shouldn't. But if its a form of peaceable demonstration then it is protected speech. You don't have to agree with everything, but, show some respect for the constitution.

And the communist thing? Thats just plain ridiculous. Wouldn't disallowing a form of freedom of speech be more totalitarian?

The funniest thing is that this group is all secret in its title. Its like they're ashamed of their beliefs.
