Supernatural 8.10

Well, that was interesting.

Based on most of the comments I've seen so far, I liked the episode more than most people. I wish though, this had been aired as the mid-season break episode.

Why is it that Sam, who has quite happily taken several monsters at their word over Dean's objection in the past, will not believe Dean that Benny has earned the trust placed on him? Is it because Benny is not a woman that Sam wants to sleep with? I get there'd be some jealousy with Dean singing Benny's praises, but to reject Dean's warning about what would happen, not take on any of the blame for the way things went & then make a 'him or me' ultimatum is incredibly childish and selfish.

I'd forgotten that Sam had seen Amelia in the bar, so I was surprised when she came to the motel. That he and Amelia slept together was no great shock, nor was his decision not to meet up with her at the end of the episode. I don't get the attraction between Sam and Amelia. I don't feel like I've been shown that Sam loves her, despite him telling Dean that she's the woman he loves.

Oh, Alfie. I made a very brief comment on tumblr about how he was tortured. The device on his head is a halo. I don't know if that was intentionally written or the props people picked it out because it looks awful, but still, the visual of an angel is being tortured by manipulation of a halo until he spills out the deepest of secrets was disturbing. I want to know why Naomi really had Cas kill him. It can't be because the information about the Angel tablet was obtained, but what he was trying to tell Cas about what's going on in Heaven. Who and what is Naomi?

I don't know if they'll address it, but I do wonder if Cas can remember some what he'd done under Naomi's orders. When he was saying the lines about about how he killed Samandriel in self defence, Cas' expression was as if he couldn't quite believe what was coming out of his mouth.

Dean can't catch a break can he? He knows something screwy is going on with Cas. He admits to Sam he's sick of the fighting, that one of them deserves to be happy (it's not going to be Dean) and that he's jealous about Sam's ability to separate himself from the job. His decision to cut ties with Benny wasn't done lightly and at great cost to both of them. I don't think that'll be the last we see of Benny, and I am concerned that Dean will have to kill his friend.

At the end of the episode we get Sam and Dean together. I know the SamAndDean people are quite happy (Wincesters too), but that was not a happy scene at all.
