Well, a lot of people who have had inexplicable problems with the Droid's built-in IMAP client claimed that a free app called K-9 worked for them. I installed it, using the same settings, and it worked correctly the first time around. (Well...it crashed 3 times during setup, but once it was set up it was fine. Whaddya want, it's a beta
