Consequentialism?

"Today we work hard to find our way." I can't decide if the overscheduled, sleep-deprived, mentally straining lifestyle we so often choose (or somehow end up with) for ourselves is truly justified by the success it earns. i'm one of those people "throwing away our time, health and sanity for some bullshit results" and i have become "GPA-obsessed, stress induced freaks so that maybe one day we'll be the CEO of our own company or be selected for a prestigious graduate school program or get our dream job."

but you know what?

i'm enjoying the hell out of my life, and it sounds like you should be, too.

you're too worried about how stressed out you've become due to college apps and lab reports to really appreciate what it is being a senior in high school.

a senior in high school means college applications. it means pulling all-nighters writing a paper for ap english. it means responsibility. and stress.

but being a senior in high school also means freedom. fun. graduation. friends.

just because you're stressed out over minute things that won't matter next year doesn't mean it's impossible to have fun. i'm having the time of my life stressing out over exams and papers. you should be too.

Oh I never said I'm not having fun cause I definitely am. I just spent the weekend at uva with my amazing boyfriend and I'm living it up and laughing at life with my best friends. I was just overanalyzing shit too much and writing about it in my journal.

i can totally relate to that feeling, i guess you have to work out for yourself what is or isn't 'worth it' in the long run. and the person in the first comment is a wack drama queen.

it really is all so trivial in the end. its not like my mom is still shooting herself for getting a D on her senior semester physics exam! and in the long run no one is going to judge you or think of you differently whether you go to VCU or JMU or UVA or whatever bullshit college anyone desires.

all i can say is second semester is gonna be the shit and we are gonna live it up girl. I LOVE YOU!
