Change in Posting Status

Aug 18, 2012 10:08

It has been brought to my attention this morning that one of my posts from this past week was put on Google Alerts. I don't want my posts going out to Google Alerts or anywhere else for that matter.  So, because of this I have decided to flock all of my postings from here on out. There may and will be some postings that I will unlock to all users, ( Read more... )

The World Wide Web is bigger than it needs to be sometimes. This is an example of that. I totally understand f-locking posts. Finding a site and being intentionally drawn to it are completely different things.

I know lately I haven't been commenting and I do apologize -- I've been dealing with extremely serious family stuff for the past few weeks, so LJ and a couple other sites have been put on the back burner so to speak. I love to read and comment when I can, it's just not on a regular basis right now. If you'd like to friend me back, you can, but don't feel obligated.

Hope the rest of your weekend is a little more low-key than this...

Totally agree, the web is bigger than we wish, in so many ways.

Sorry to hear things have been rough for you as of late. Totally understand and relate to that. I'll friend you back and hope to hear from you when life calms down a little bit for you.

Take care.

The Internet scares me. Everyday something new about how we have no anonymity. I don't know what google alerts is, but I'm sorry this happened because it is a shame to not have open posts to share to new people who find your journal. *hugs*

It is a shame that we can't have open posts and not have the assurance what we post isn't going to be used or posted elsewhere. I have gained several new friends from people searching on SPN and Dean Winchester and now all that is going to change.

More and more people are flocking their journals. It's a shame really. Hard to get to know new people if everyone's journal is locked and you can't see anything they post to see if they would be someone you might want to be friends with. Oh well.

If you don't want what you're saying going out to the general public, then you should be flocking your posts.

But alternatively, you might want to look into this:

Maybe there's a way to lock off your entries from search engines so you don't have to worry about Google Alerts.

I don't mind if other users of LJ look at my general posts, what I do mind is my posts being taken by other medias and posted, like Google Alerts did with one of mine.

Thanks for the link. I will look into that.
