So, as our first foray into the world of mini farming, we decided to get a single pair of geese. Geese are supposedly one of the easier types of poultry to raise, as they tend to be very weather hardy, disease resistant, good foragers, and self-protective. Wandered over here from the craft community. Here's a video you might have already seen. Also, I highly recommend the book Square Foot Gardening by Mel Bartholomew. Not sure how much acreage you have but it allows you to grow a large volume of food in a confined space with crop rotations and placement.

that is such a cute video, thanks for showing me :)

i've got a book by another bio-intensive gardener that i'm really intrigued by, and i'm also really interested in trying the mulch-only method. i actually have a fair amount of land now, so i think come spring i'm going to try both methods and over the next few years we'll see which one works better for me :)
