There's a bit of a timelag on this journal atm - we were actually there from 28th April to 1st May, but I've only just got round to hauling these notes off my PDA and tidying them.
There's a terrific churreria in Madrid just near the Puerta del Sol, next to the church of San Gines -- T reckons that's the best place in the city centre (and I bow to her wisdom on matters chocolatey).
Thanks for the link to 7 new wonders -- although Stonehenge, new?? and seems a bit harsh making the Pyramids compete again, you'd think they'd be a Wonder Emeritus by now.
Ooh, Churreria location duly added to the list of places to go. Thanks...
As for the Pyramids, they're some sort of "Honorary Candidate", which means no-one votes for them, and they're just noted as great. However, I skipped seeing them when I was in Cairo for 12 hours - I went to he Islamic Art museum instead (which ties neatly into the post).
