If you've never seen this BBC footage of the imitative Lyrebird before it's an ear opener. It just keeps getting better through camera sounds and to the "sound of chain saws" finale, which I find a little sad - man's impact on the environment and all that.

Wow, that's incredible !

I agree with the guy on influks - if it wasn't a BBC video I'd assume it was faked.

A final bit of cultural commentary was provided by Google as I was searching for evidence of the story's authenticity. AdWords article in the sidebar: "Want to buy a chainsaw?"

That's really impressive. If you used a bird like that as part of a scene in a roleplaying game, the players would reckon it was a magical bird you'd made up.

L and I just worked it into a plan for an additional layer for a high security area. Lots of extra Lyrebirds to make the noises of armed guards, cameras etc.

It probably also does a mean imitation of ice shelves crashing into the ocean.
