I loved this! Molly's gentle hints to Tonks, the twins' pranking Remus (and feeling remorseful for upsetting him!), especially loved the ending. Tonks and Remus pranking the twins would be hilarious! I, too, want to shake Remus, but I really liked the hopeful nature of this story. Great job!

Thanks so much -- I'm glad you enjoyed this! I like to imagine the twins idolizing Remus a little, what with the Map and all, so I think they felt bad when their attempt to cheer him up backfired.

So cute. I love the dynamics between Lupin and Tonks. They are perfect foils for one another.

Very cute. I wish Remus would realize that Tonks just loves him for who he is and doesn't care about money, age, or how "dangerous" he is.

Great work! :)

Thanks so much!

I wish Remus would see that, too! But JKR left him stewing for a year, poor man...

Guh! This fic (because of Tonks' line about them being exhausted, cold, and lonely) makes me think of "I've got your live to keep me warm," only they don't. :( which is such a perfect reflection of remus moping during "A Cauldron Full of Hot Strong Love." That indirect reference does much to make this story feel like an "it could be canon!" missing moment.

I really like Molly's note and explanation that it hadn't occurred to Remus to ask Tonks to come, because in his mind he shouldn't be something holding her back; she's over him, in his mind, and will come if it strikes her fancy to! Great explanation for why she's not there, which always baffled me a bit. It also works as quite a revelation to him when she does finally show up and he sees she still loves him. Whether he wants to admit it or not, he does have their love to help him go on.

And for them to leave carrying out a prank is a lovely touch. Remus isn't so irreparably damaged as he thinks!

Loved this! Sorry it took me so long to get around to saying so!

Oh, no, I forgot I hadn't responded to this yet! Sorry about that, and thank you so much for the kind and thoughtful comments.

I'm especially glad to know you thought this works as a missing moment and as an explanation for why we never saw Tonks at the Burrow for HBP Christmas. And that the prank idea works -- for all that Remus was so sad staring into the fire on Christmas Eve, and a little bitter at first talking to Harry, he did manage to pull himself out of it. So I thought that, especially with the happy surprise of Tonks's company, he might well be up for a bit of a prank, too.

This was really good. Nice, and it just made me feel sort of quiet and comfortable, except when they were out in the wind and such. But even then, it felt sorta... I don't know, hard to explain.

Anyway, the last bit was really cute/silly and I liked it. It must be hard for Tonks to see him continually beating himself up about it when she can see so clearly that he wants it, too.
