When Jessica saw the scars decorating Sam’s body, she’d believed that he was just a clumsy kid.
When Sarah saw them, she didn’t stare, or look suspicious, just pulled off her own shirt, exposing her amalgamation of war wounds, having been a hunter for going on seven years now.
He hates that her skin is marred with battle, but part of him loves her even more, because she knows. She doesn’t ask questions, he doesn’t either.
“You don’t need to hide them from me,” she says every night, tracing them gently.
He smiles, passion and understanding then claiming them both.
