Reading in the library

Her hair is a pale aquamarine today, long enough to hide her face as she bends her head over the book in her lap. Aquamarine locks and all, she's in the library - a vast library, with seemingly endless acres of books. The thick, leather-bound one resting against her folded knees is just one of thousands, but it must be a particularly fascinating ( Read more... )

Jinjur strides in to the library with her usual confidence, nearing arrogance, but she cannot help but stop and regard, with a somewhat undignified expression, the vastness of this library. She isn't fully sure what she's looking for, but she manages to look purposeful as she heads over to one of the shelves and starts scanning the selection, running her finger along spines. After a moment she pulls one out, but the think volume slips from her grasp and lands on the floor with a very loud thump, a sound still more amplified by the high ceilings of the room.

Tonks jumps, blue-green eyes widening, at the sudden sound. "Wha-- oh--!" She shakes her head quickly, like a particularly colorful dog, and suddenly grins. "A fellow reader, huh?"

Jinjur spins around and, upon noticing Tonks, looks suddenly bashful. "I didn't think there was anyone else in here."

"I've always been good at ...blending in," she says with a grin - a statement that must, to anyone who doesn't know her, seem ridiculous, considering her highly noticeable hair color of the moment. She uncurls her legs, dangling them off the edge of the high table she has been perched on, pushing the book off her knee to the side of the table. "I'm Tonks."

*happening by* *stops and stares* You. Books. This doesn't add up. Are you well, Tonks?

*looks up from her book to see who it is and, upon doing so, sticks her tongue out at him* Perfectly well. I do know how to read, you know. And even indulge that ability - once in a while. ...a rather long while, I admit, but still...

*with a sheepish grin, she lifts the book to show him the title - "Wilde: An Anthology"* I got tired of Remus lording it over me that I hadn't read his pet author, that's all.

Since it's a library, Remus is bound to be somewhere around there, peering through the shelves with the sort of bounciness that would surely make James lock up his books for more than a month. Choosing a copy of Notre-Dame de Paris, he flops down near Tonks and grins. "'Lo, you."

She immediately covers the title of her book with her hand, flipping her hair back over her shoulder and blinking innocently at Remus. "Hello yourself."

He raises an eyebrow at the innocent blink -- he's seen that far too many times from Sirius, but then decides to ignore it. "What're you up to, then?"

"Planning just how to set fire to all these books," she answers with a wicked gleam in her eyes. "I thought I might start with that shelf of Shakespeare right there, let that move on through the rest of the plays and dramatics, and then toss a match into the poetry section, let it all go up together. What do you think? Should I start with the history books, instead?"
