Well it was the hamlet barbecue on Saturday. It was due to start at about 2 pm in our garden, but at 11 am it was piddling down with rain so J&D thoughtfully offered the use of their open-fronted shed to do the cooking in and put up a huge tent in their garden in case the rain didn't stop in time ( Read more... )

hooray for bucolicism!

my supervisor and i had a picnic in the car on saturday, as it decided to piss down on stowe in the war. luckily it did wait until we were on our way round to the carpark. it was rather surreal, loads of ww2 re-enacters standing in various tents around the grounds of stowe house, most of them suspiciously northern even when they were pretending to be russian. typical blokes, they sucked the fun out of it by banging on about how many rounds you could fire off lee enfield rifle. but there were some nice looking ats girls.

We could find a boisterous labrador and buckets of coleslaw and re-enact metapho's bbq.

I had a dream about your post. I wished there had been two bottles of red. I was quite cross about it.

Did you want to gargle with it?

Well I wanted to gargle the white and drink the red. Although on second thoughts, it's really better to gargle with thing you like and drink the thing you don't isn't it?

We put Cointreau in the fruit salad to liven it up a bit. My wife could only find a big bottle of the stuff in the supermarket, so we have lots left. It's vile. You can gargle with that if you like.
