My niece has a new boyfriend. We all did so love Jim, the previous one. He was ultimately deemed to be poor husband material, and to be honest he was, but he was quite nice-looking in spite of his wonky teeth and we were used to him and he laughed at our family in-jokes which is the most important thing in a possible future in-law ( Read more... )

Your family sounds fun - I wonder what my family will make of the new American in my life this xmas. My mum already gets their names mixed up.

I wouldn't necessarily describe my family as fun, though I do appreciate them an awful lot more since I realised how nightmarish other people's families can be. MiL for example.
Are you subjecting your new American to the joys of a family Christmas then?

Err yes I think so. Her family is horrible. I haven't asked mine yet. Our xmases normally involve either sulking or the police if no one comes, hopefully I can shame them into behaving with a visitor.

Apparently Baby David is very sweet and kind and attentive in spite of his macho appearance, so maybe I'll save the poisoning till later.
