Title: Perfection
Prompt: #156 - Enchantment (for
femslash100)
Fandom: Firefly/Serenity
Pairing: Inara/Kaylee
Rating: PG
Word Count: 100
Inara swept through Serenity with immaculate grace. She was all flowing silks and expensive incense, smooth skin and smiling eyes. She was sleek and captivating, drawing an audience wherever she went. Sometimes, the sight and smell of her made Kaylee dizzy.
She was clearly very good at what she did, because the young mechanic was completely entranced by her. She'd have liked to to take the woman aside and shower her with soft touches, worship at her temple, if she would ever dare. But they were from different worlds, and she could not mar such a perfect beauty with engine-grease hands.
Title: Unusual Relationship
Prompt: #169 - What if...? (for
slashthedrabble)
Fandom: Heroes
Pairing: Matt/Mohinder
Rating: G
Word Count: 300
Matt doesn't remember when exactly the idea got stuck in his head, but he couldn't shake it no matter how hard he tried or how much he longed to forget. Actively trying to rid himself of it or not, it seemed to be there to stay: What would his life be like right now if Mohinder was a woman?
Perhaps it started with the odd looks they got together with Molly. He was fairly certain the teachers, as well as a number of parents, assumed. People in the supermarket assumed. The neighbors assumed.
They were in fact taking care of this child together. They were her surrogate parents, and they would both protect her with their very lives. They were closely connected to each other via this young girl.
Matt knew that having a child didn't mean that a couple had to be together. But most couples with a child hadn't gone through nearly as much together as he and Mohinder had. Most would never have such huge secrets to keep hidden from the world. Most hadn't lost and gained as much so very quickly.
What Matt felt for Mohinder was hard to put into words. He'd never felt anything like it before, and it frightened him. He didn't rightly know what it was: an odd friendship, understanding, respect? And the fact that his brain was forcing Mohinder as a woman on him frightened him even more. Is that was he secretly wished? Did he want Mohinder to fill the whole left after Janice? Did he really want to make his life even more complicated than it already was?
No. He didn't want to make his life any more complicated. Besides, Mohinder was a man who probably wouldn't want that. Though he wanted to, Matt couldn't bring himself to infiltrate Mohinder's brain to make sure.

It had been exactly one week and five days since Matt had been pulled into Mohinder's dream. He wasn't entirely sure why he was counting the days, but he couldn't stop himself from doing so. The following morning had been awkward on both accounts, but neither of them said a word. He figured Mohinder couldn't be thinking that he'd done it, so the man was just embarrassed about having a sexual dream involving his roommate. This left no reason for Matt to be awkward, but Mohinder didn't seem to notice that in his own fumbling attempt at normalcy.
Mohinder had just gone to bed, and Matt was thinking about the events while suffocating on the couch. Even though it was 11 PM, it was 95 degrees out. The apartment only had air conditioners in Molly and Mohinder's rooms, and Matt was close to dying where he slept. He could handle the heat with just a fan while awake, but sleep was proving to be impossible.
So he was awake, staring mindlessly out. He saw as Mohinder's light turned off, and sighed. At least his makeshift family would get some sleep.
But then the light came back on, and he watched as it filled the hallway and Mohinder's form peeked out. "Matt?" Mohinder shifted nervously. "Would you like to stay in here where it's cool tonight?"
He probably should have said no, but the prospect of sleep was too exciting to give up for some awkwardness. He grabbed his pillow and blanket and smiled. "Thanks, I'd love to."
He shuffled in and began to lay the blanket down on the floor, but Mohinder shifted again, gripping onto the doorknob even after the door was closed. "That's not necessary, you'll hurt your back. The bed is plenty big." He had a hesitant hope in his eyes that Matt felt he wasn't supposed to notice. So he just nodded, and gathered his things to take to the bed as Mohinder hurried to move his own over. He then turned out the light, and they laid in stifling silence despite the cool, humidity-free air.
He was getting too close to something he'd swore wouldn't happen one week and five days ago. The temptation to check the reality of how Mohinder's skin felt was overwhelming. What if it was true, what if Mohinder really did want something more? For almost two weeks now Matt had been coming to terms with the fact that he wouldn't object. But it was too risky, he couldn't do anything. Not without solid proof, and a dream was not solid proof.
Matt was on his back and extremely tense, hoping Mohinder didn't notice. But the other man was on his side and facing away. From the hum of the air conditioner he couldn't hear his breathing, but Mohinder slept shirtless and he could see the man's breathing was quick. It seemed that hopeful had turned into nervous wreck in a matter of a minute.
"Mohinder? Are you okay?"
His back tensed and his breathing stopped, but he did not answer.
"...I know you aren't sleeping. I can go sleep on the floor, really."
No response, just a sharp intake of breath when his lungs decided they'd had enough of being empty.
Hopeless, Matt did something he didn't want to.
Mohinder's brain gave off only one repeated phrase in shaky Tamil. Were his thoughts... sobbing?
Matt sat up and forced Mohinder to roll over, and the sight made him choke. His outsides were crying, too, and he looked like he had never been more horrified and upset in his entire life. Before thinking at all, Matt flopped back down and pulled the man flush against his chest, rubbing his back in hurried circles. "Shh. Shh. Whatever it is, it's okay. I'm sorry. I don't have to sleep here."
Mohinder shook is head as best he could while trapped in Matt's arms, and clung to his shirt. "Read my..." he started in a hoarse whisper, but another sob wracked through him. But Matt understood.
Matt... Don't leave... Pleasepleaseplease. I'm sorry, I'm sorry. It just hurts. I can't have you and it just hurts... Oh, God. Now you'll leave. I'm sorry, I'm sorry!
Mohinder looked horrified as Matt pulled him off his chest, but once he caught his eyes he just appeared confused. Matt looked scared, yet determined, as he brought a hand up to Mohinder's hair and kissed him tentatively.
Mohinder shivered as the tears evaporated and settled in against Matt. "I've been dreaming about this," he admitted quietly. Matt held him tight. "I have, too."
