Title: Believe
Prompt: a memory remains
Fandom: Avatar: the Last Airbender
Pairing: Mai/Zuko
Rating: PG
Word Count: 340
Mai sat nearly lifelessly in her cell, head lolled against the cool stone wall and arms shackled at her sides. She rarely let it show that she cared about anything before, and being imprisoned wasn't about to change that. She longed to do something, anything, but she couldn't move around much with her wrists chained. So instead she sat, and tried not to think about anything.
It was hard. She wanted to know where Ty Lee was, if she was okay. Which of them had committed the greater crime? Or were they deemed to be equal in their punishment? She hoped that least this was the worst punishment, so that she could be assured that Ty Lee was still alive. She probably was.
And what had this all been for? Zuko. Her Zuko. Her angry prince who had left her with only a letter. Zuko, who was at this very moment helping the Avatar to bring down the Fire Nation. Was he right in doing so? She wasn't even sure anymore. Perhaps it was best that she had betrayed Azula, if she didn't know which side she was on.
If she had to choose right then, it would again be Zuko's. She betrayed Azula at the time because she loved him, not because she believed he was on the right side. But besides loving him, she also found herself believing in him. To leave home, to leave everything he'd worked for... It must be the right thing. It must be that Ozai needed to be stopped.
If she didn't believe in him or his cause, what hope did she have? Here she only had his memory, and all she could give him was her prayers that he was on the winning side. If he won, she would soon be free and be able to be with him. If he lost, she would rot here forever knowing his punishment would be death.
So she sat there, day after day, remembering her rogue prince and hoping to Agni that he and the Avatar came out on top.
Title: Foreign Relations
Prompt: corruption
Fandom: Avatar: the Last Airbender
Pairing: Azula/Katara
Rating: PG-13
Word Count: 100
"We aren't kids anymore. You don't scare me."
"Oh, Ambassador. My goal isn't to scare you."
I looked into her eyes, exotic gold and a telling grin making me shudder uncontrollably. The sudden heat radiating from me was a mixture of embarrassment and arousal, easily making her chuckle as her fingers explored my neck.
"You're right, waterbender. We're not kids. Which makes claiming you all the sweeter."
My eyes narrowed as I grabbed her hand and pressed it firmly against my hip. "Use my name."
With a smirk of triumph, she pulled me flush against her, whisper tickling my ear. "That's more like it, Katara."
Title: Thrills
Prompt: Unexpected
Fandom: Avatar: the Last Airbender
Pairing: Katara/Mai
Rating: PG
Word Count: 100
Mai had always enjoyed powerful women. She loved watching them fight, and going up against another girl was a thrill like no other. Defeating men had never left her feeling as satisfied.
Besides Azula, Mai's most powerful adversary had always been the Avatar's waterbending girl. Their fight at Omashu still played in Mai's head; she'd love a rematch.
However, they weren't enemies anymore. Meaning now Mai could actually ask her for a friendly duel, and get her rematch without anyone getting hurt.
So why did she keep asking Katara to tea or dinner instead? Why didn't she really want to fight her anymore?
Title: Contrast
Prompt: Misdirection
Fandom: Avatar: the Last Airbender
Pairing: Katara/Toph
Rating: G
Word Count: 100
She had liked Sokka. It didn't surprise her that she ended up feeling close to the first boy she ever really met. It was supposed to work something like that, right?
But then she began to watch Katara work. The beautiful, fluid movements echoed into her feet and made her nerves dance. It felt like poetry, and it stood in stark contrast to the reality of the waterbender. She was quick to temper, and never once held back when it came to Toph.
With smooth power and a sharp tongue that didn't exclude "helpless" blind girls, Katara was clearly the better choice.
