And Erin does occasionally mildly creep on Kevin, and her inappropriate actions are called out by her coworkers in subtle ways (things like "Let him have his hand back now" or whatever the equivalent was), so she ends up coming across as socially clueless instead of Grade-A Sexual Predator like Venkman does (who brings Thorazine on a date!).

I was astonished he was so funny.
Also, prior to seeing the movie, I heard criticism that Leslie Jones, who is black, had to play the non-scientist streetwise character; but I did not realize that in this case “streetwise” meant “New York City history buff, with an encyclopedic knowledge of the history of the actual streets.”
Yes! I was so pleasantly surprised by this. I expected it to be the biggest problem of the movie. I still think it was a little off, but not bad.
how funny McCarthy makes her Abby Yates
I'd say that was my one disappointment - I haven't seen McCarthy in anything else but I honestly didn't find her very funny for most of this. It's possible that's because she was playing against the absolutely transcendent McKinnon, and the as I said, very surprisingly funny Hemsworth.
Love all your thoughts on Venkman vs. Abby, well put.
