What I really desperately wanted was for Moana's maternal line to be descended from Hina, and that's why Moana was able to (re-)unite with Maui. I like your version too!

Gramma was awesome! She got to dance and be fat and have tattoos and be a fine mysterious old crone! I wanted more about her backstory, too. I loved that we finally had a Disney movie where the mother actually survived the entire time, but of course Gramma had to buy it. Still, she got to be part of the story, while Mom barely had a line.

Yeah, I felt a bit bad for mom. Gramma was great and if I ever get to be a Force ghost, being a giant fancy manta ray Force ghost is definitely the way to go!
