Strictly speaking, I suspect you're talking about shifter romance. In the purest sense of the word, even Dracula counts as "paranormal", while IIRC Zeus transformed himself into quite a few creatures in order to ravish mortals long before Jesus was even a glint in the Holy Spirit's eye.

There's nothing really new under the sun - there's only variations on product to keep the fur looking lustrous and the women offering their throats to the wolf with the red roses.
