I have to admit, growing up in a parliamentary democracy, the Schoolhouse Rock episodes I saw about the US legal system made me feel alienated.
I'm only a private members bill which means I was introduced by an individual member of parliament and not the party of government, Up on parliament hill, And I'll be debated in the House of Commons and eventually in the unelected, appointed Senate which is a remnant of the British system of the House of Lords, Then upon a majority vote be passed into law by the signature of the Governor-General...
OK, so it doesn't swing like the original, but still.
Perhaps the shot heard round the world was actually cultural imperialism, hmmmn? Perhaps?
