Title: Time Works
Rating: PG-13
Pairing: Yoomin and slight Yunjae
Summary: This could be another arranged marriage fic, but maybe these two can make it different.

AN: Since this is my first time posting a fic on live journal, I don't really know if this chapter is long, short, or anything in between.

“Where are you going?”

Yoochun, the person questioned, groaned inwardly. For once he wished that he could leave his apartment without anyone asking where he was going. He was 25 goddamnit, he was a healthy male trying to live a life. But despite his growing need to rebel and just leave without an explanation, he still responded to avoid getting in trouble. What a wimp.

“I’m going to spend some time with Jaejoong” He cringed, waiting for his fiance’s reply. What has his life come to? Jaejoong was his best friend, he had every right to hang out with the man.

The response from Changmin took longer than usual, long enough for Yoochun to notice and stop cringing, “Is something wrong, Changmin-ah?”

Yoochun’s fiance sighed, running a hand through his hair and fixing his glasses, “Just come back on time. Your mom is visiting later to cook for us.”

Yoochun stared at the younger man. Usually Changmin would demand for him to stay in case Jaejoong took all his time, considering that Changmin actually allowed him to go out was surprising. “Are you sure?” Yoochun clarified and almost smacked himself on the face, if he was so desperate to go out shouldn’t he just leave the minute Changmin gave him an ok? What was he doing?

“Yeah” Changmin urged on, going back to the papers in front of him.

From Yoochun’s point of view, the font on them looked so tiny and he wondered how Changmin managed to read such things.

Yoochun pursed his lips, tucking stray hair behind his right ear. Before he could think about what he was going to say, he let the words slip out of his mouth,

“Are you ok, Min?”

His question took Changmin by surprise. From the nickname used to the question itself, it was rare for Yoochun to stop and ask how Changmin was doing.

Yoochun was all over the place, he wanted to do everything, be everything, and have everything. He didn’t have time to ask how other people were doing, even if he was marrying them or not.

Changmin didn’t know how to answer the question. There was so much going on and he didn’t know if Yoochun needed to know. He could settle to saying he was fine, but he really wasn’t. He was swamped.

The younger male bit his lip, wondering if telling Yoochun a little bit of what he wanted to let out would better their relationship in any way. They never really talked to each other unless necessary. Nothing much can really be done in an arranged marriage.

“I’m tired.” One of the classics, in Changmin’s opinion.

Yoochun didn’t know what got into him, maybe because Jaejoong didn’t really have anything important to discuss and he was planning to go there to waste time, or the near-to-tears eyes that Changmin was sporting. Whatever it was, it made Yoochun take off his boots and jacket and sit next to Changmin on the couch, setting aside the papers that Changmin was still buried under since 2 am when Yoochun noticed that Changmin wasn’t beside him in bed.

Who never talked to their future husband anyway, arranged or not?

“Talk to me about it.” It took only those few words to break Changmin’s reserve and Yoochun found himself with his arms full of the taller male almost immediately.

“My assistant’s crappy and I don’t have the heart to fire her. She doesn’t file my things properly and so I’m swamped with paperwork. She forgets about meetings so now I have a bad rep and everyone thinks I became CEO because of family influence. But she’s pregnant and her husband just left her, I don’t know. I don’t know what to do.” The younger male’s sobbing continued and Yoochun awkwardly patted him, “I know it’s a mild problem but I’m new to this and my dad refuses to help me.” Changmin looked up, seemingly hesitant and Yoochun frowned.

“Why aren’t you talking to your dad?”

“He’s mad because I told him he was going to hell for forcing me into marriage.” Changmin sounded guilty and the other male almost laughed at his quick-changing emotions.

Yoochun released a sigh and looked at his fiance, the 25 year old’s appearance dulled compared to how he looked like when Yoochun first saw him. He could still remember the attraction he felt after meeting Changmin, the male was everything Yoochun would have loved until he realized he was going to be arranged in marriage to him. Seeing Changmin like this, work was obviously dragging the young CEO down.

“I told my parents to go to hell too, you know.”

---

Yoochun didn’t go to Jaejoong’s house that day and instead spent the rest of his Friday trying to calm Changmin down.

They talked about Changmin talking to his assistant and being firm about it and other ways to better Changmin’s situation. It wasn’t until Yoochun’s mom arrived to cook dinner for them when they realized how close they were.

Changmin was snuggled up to Yoochun, his head on the other man’s chest and Yoochun’s fingers through his hair, massaging his scalp. Somehow, in the middle of worrying about Changmin’s well-being, the two just ended up depending on each other despite the fact that this was the longest conversation they have ever had and they were snuggling. It took them by surprise to say the least.

Scrambling up and blushing furiously, Changmin stood up to answer the door. Yoochun just sat there, shocked. He didn’t know what came over him. Changmin just looked too helpless and he was never one to turn away people who needed help. Even though, he was supposed to avoid Changmin at all costs. Scaring away the other male or making Changmin hate him was the only chance he had to convince his father to dismiss the marriage.

Changmin was unexpectedly compliant though, he acted like a fiance. Always asking where Yoochun was or what he was doing. Yoochun knew that Changmin was aware of his persistence to not make it work, but Yoochun underestimated Changmin’s determination to follow through their parents’ wishes. The kid was just too much of an overachiever that he was willing to let himself forced into matrimony without a peep. And because of this, Yoochun’s plan to annoy Changmin into giving up faltered and the two of them ended up in this weird process.

The said weird process being: dancing around each other. They stayed in the same apartment, Changmin went to work, CEO and all and Yoochun did whatever he was doing at the moment. Painting, writing, curating, teaching, travelling, etc.

The taller male kept them together. Changmin always took time to pay attention to Yoochun. Starting short and awkward conversations, just because. Yoochun, despite hating being tied down, found everything unusually comfortable. They’ve been dancing around each other for so long (8 months to be exact), he got used to it. Of course it was still annoying to tell Changmin where he was going and what he was going to do but in the end, he did what he had to do as a fiance.

It was their own, confusing bubble and day by day, the two were being sucked in.
