The best definition of sin I've ever heard is "anything that we allow to separate us from God," whether it's sexual impurity (seeking intimacy outside of God), gossip / drama (attempts to receive acceptance outside of God's), or even turning your Bible and religiosity into idols (a personal favorite vice).

I think, in the end, to live righteously is not so much to seek God's will every minute of every day (maybe I'm just defining it differently, but that sounds exhausting and impossible to me, and as such, it would make sin inevitable--not to mention, it becomes about "me" and how "I" live--there is no focus on Christ in my life, except of how "I" serve him) but to live in a state of grace. Yoder makes the point in Politics of Jesus that the only thing Christ was ever legalistic about was the fact that you receive the same amount of grace as you give to others. I believe that once you stop defining sin as "bad things I do when I'm out of the will of God" and define it as "things that separate me from the love of God" it becomes a lot
