The doctor

Am I the only one who thinks this current series is almost as poorly written as season 6 of Highlander?  This series is boring and dumb.  I hope Russell T Davies has written some eps that we haven't seen yet.  His stories were usually good.

I've only seen the first ep so far. How many have played so far this season?

I've enjoyed the ones I've seen so far. But it's definitely a different atmosphere than the last few seasons. I have to say I love having a grownup as a companion finally!

You found Rose and Martha to be childish? I liked them. I think something is going to develop between the doctor and donna because they play the "we're not a couple" line every week. (Methinks you protest too much...)

Rose, oh yeah! Martha I love, but she's very young. I like having a companion closer to my own age for once :)

I frankly do not see the appeal of this show. The OOD?? For crying out loud...that was just gross and stupid.

I'm not even sure I want to continue watching this show.

I think the first 3 seasons were great. Maybe I've had my fill of David Tennant. The writers they've chosen aren't very good. I wonder how David A. would do.

Sorry you are not enjoying it. I love the whole series and while I can understand people finding Donna harder to take, I, like Ith, love an older, stronger female companion who is not smitten, naive or perky. Don;t get me wrong I totally enjoyed Rose and Martha was "brilliant" (figuratively and literally).

And the "in jokes" this season have been great.

Donna more then anyone has stood up to him.

Actually I would love to see Sally Sparrow as his next companion, she was a great character.

It's not the companions that bother me. I enjoy Donna and I especially like the actress' comedy. It's the storylines and dialog that I find disappointing.

Speaking of comedy...I most enjoyed the scene where the doctor tells Donna to hold on (to the rope she's clinging too) and she yells "I am!" She does call him on his dumb, uncompassionate stuff.

I think it is such a big change from previous companions. Now th companions tend to be stronger and more self sufficient. No more just someone for him to explain things to. Captain Jack, Martha they lead the trend and Donna is following - going off to check the office on her one and finding the sick log, not joining him at the Ratz Academy, she has her own mind.

My favorites are the one you site, the in joke with the gas mask, and when she just stands there letting him expose on her leaving him then goes off on how dumb he his, plus she actually hits him instead of running to hug him when he tries to sacrifice himself (that was so a me thing, never hug first when someone does something stupid).

I had forgotten about the gas joke--Are you my mommy? That was quite funny.
