Meme taken from capj_harkness. I blame Sarah for this. Completely.

Also, this info is strictly about Kate from the place in LOST canon she is taken from - including nothing from what she's experienced at the Hotel California.

Body and Appearance
1. Describe the character's height and build. Is she heavyset, thin, short, rangy? Kate is 5'5" (165 cm) tall. She is of athletic build, in healthy shape. Curves in the right places, though on the thin side of curvy.

2. How old is she? 30 years old

3. Describe her posture. Does she carry herself well or does she slouch? Kate carries herself very well. She's confident and quick on her feet.

4. How is her health? Is she fit or out of shape? Any illnesses or conditions? Any physical disabilities? Kate is healthy and in shape.

5. How does she move? Is she clumsy, graceful, tense, fluid? Kate is at once graceful and fluid, and strong and athletic. She can move - in whatever way necessary for the situation.

6. How attractive is this character physically? How does she perceive herself in the mirror? She is quite attractive, and has used that to her advantage in her flights from the law. She doesn't necessarily perceive herself as sexy, but knows men view her as such.

7. Describe her complexion. Dark, light, clear, scarred? Light complexion, with lots of freckles. Her freckles get more pronounced when she's been in the sun.

8. Describe her hair: color, texture, style. She has brown hair. If she lets it dry naturally, it's wavy/curly. She does straighten it from time to time, something she has done more often since she's been back from the island. She goes from wearing it down, to halfway up, to in a ponytail, depending on what's convenient.

9. What color are her eyes? On the green side of hazel.

10. Does the character have any other noteworthy features? Other than the aforementioned freckles, not really.

11. What are her chief tension centers? Her shoulders and her face.

12. What is the character's wardrobe like? Casual, dressy, utilitarian? Bright colors, pastels, neutrals? Is it varied, or does she have six of the same suit? She prefers casual clothes - jeans, tank tops, t-shirts. Since her return from the island and the subsequent need to be 'respectable' and raise a child, she tends towards more professional clothing such as power suits, dress pants and blouses. She has never worn pink.

13. Do her clothes fit well? Does she seem comfortable in them? Kate is certainly more comfortable in casual clothing, but she can act comfortable in most anything. Her clothes fit well.

14. Does she dress the same on the job as she does in her free time? If not, what are the differences? She doesn't have a job. She is independently wealthy following a substantial settlement involving Oceanic Airlines. She dresses to fit the part.

15. You knew it was coming: Boxers, briefs or commando? Depends on her mood (or what's not in the laundry at the moment, realistically). Bikini briefs, thongs, boy shorts...she's got them all.

Speech
1. What does this character's voice sound like? High-pitched, deep, hoarse? Pretty typical for a female.

2. How does she normally speak? Loud, soft, fast, evenly? Does she talk easily, or does she hesitate? She usually speaks with an even cadence and volume. She can make herself heard when she needs to. She's confident when she speaks, though tends to hesitate when she's got something to hide. She doesn't need to be talking all the time and doesn't mind just sitting quietly with someone.

3. Does the character have a distinct accent or dialect? Any individual quirks of pronunciation? Any, like, you know, verbal tics? She has a typical Midwestern American accent.

4. What language/s does she speak, and with how much fluency? She is fluent in English.

5. Does she switch languages or dialects in certain situations? No.

6. Is she a good impromptu speaker, or does she have to think about her words? She can think on her feet with the best of them, though she's not one prone to making impromptu speeches. She tends to prefer action when the situation requires fast thinking.

7. Is she eloquent or inarticulate? Under what circumstances might this change? She's fairly middle of the road. She can say what needs to be said, and make herself understood very well, but doesn't get overly wordy about it.

Mental and Emotional
1. How intelligent is this character? Is she book-smart or street-smart? Kate is quite street smart. She's a fast learner and probably could be book smart if she wanted to be. She picks up on things quickly and is very observant of people and situations.

2. Does she think on her feet, or does she need time to deliberate? She definitely thinks on her feet - at times, to the point of being too impulsive. She doesn't always consider the consequences of her actions either for herself or for others.

3. Describe the character's thought process. Is she more logical, or more intuitive? Idealistic or practical? Intuitive, and mostly practical.

4. What kind of education has the character had? She completed at least most (if not all) of high school in Iowa. She did not attend any higher education.

5. What are her areas of expertise? What, if anything, is she interested in learning more about? She is an expert tracker, good with directions and navigation. She has a good working knowledge of several types of weapons - handguns, shotguns, rifles, etc. and explosives. She enjoys and excels at most outdoor/nature-based pursuits. She'd like to know more about technology.

6. Is she an introvert or an extrovert? She's an introvert until she gets to know and trust someone. She keeps herself close.

7. Describe the character's temperament. Is she even-tempered or does she have mood swings? Cheerful or melancholy? Laid-back or driven? She is fairly even-tempered, though is known to have strong emotional reactions when feeling threatened or cornered, and she struggles with feelings of guilt. She is very driven. If someone tells her she can't do something, she's more apt to go and do it.

8. How does she respond to new people or situations? Is she suspicious, relaxed, timid, enthusiastic? Kate is immediately suspicious of anyone new, though she doesn't necessarily show it. It takes her a long time to open up and to trust.

9. Is she more likely to act, or to react? Act.

10. Which is her default: fight or flight? Flight. And fight. Mostly at the same time. No, really.

11. Describe the character's sense of humor. Does she appreciate jokes? Puns? Gallows humor? Bathroom humor? Pranks? She appreciates all of the above. She uses sarcasm most often herself. She's not much of a prankster.

12. Does the character have any diagnosable mental disorders? If yes, how does she deal with them? No.

13. What moments in this character's life have defined her as a person? Finding out her father wasn't actually her father, killing her biological father and her subsequent years running from the law, and of course, most definitively, the 108 days she spent stranded on the island.

14. What does she fear? Someone finding out the truth about the Oceanic Six and Aaron's true parentage. In short, someone taking Aaron away from her.

15. What are her hopes or aspirations? She lives pretty day-to-day for herself. She hopes to be a decent mother to Aaron.

16. What is something she doesn't want anyone to find out about her? Aaron is not really her son.

Relationships
1. Describe this character's relationship with her parents. She had a very close relationship growing up with Sam, the man she believed to be her father. Her actual biological father Wayne was an abusive man, whom she killed. She had a decently close relationship with her mother, until she killed Wayne. Her mother then turned her into the police and told Kate she would scream for help if she ever saw her again. When Kate returned from the island, her mother attempted to blackmail her during her trial. Her stepfather Sam has not attempted to contact her since her return. Needless to say, she has little to no relationship with any parent anymore.

2. Does the character have any siblings? What is/was their relationship like? She has no siblings.

3. Are there other blood relatives to whom she is close? Are there ones she can't stand? None.

4. Are there other, unrelated people whom she considers part of her family? What are her relationships with them? Aaron is, for all intents and purposes, her son. She is also very close to Cassidy, Sawyer's ex, and Cassidy's daughter Clementine. Clementine calls her Auntie Kate.

5. Who is/was the character's best friend? How did they meet? Tom was her best friend/sweetheart from childhood on, until Kate left Iowa. They met in primary school.

6. Does she have other close friends? She would consider some of the people she met on the island to be close friends, particularly Sun, Sayid and Hurley - even though they don't keep in very close contact anymore.

7. Does she make friends easily, or does she have trouble getting along with people? She doesn't have trouble getting along with people, but due to her guarded, untrusting nature, she does not make friends easily.

8. Which does she consider more important: family or friends? friends

9. Is the character single, married, divorced, widowed? Has she been married more than once? She was briefly married (under an alias) to Kevin Callis; the marriage ended when she came clean about her past and went on the run again. After returning from the island she was briefly engaged to Jack Shephard, but the relationship ended over his drinking/drug abuse and her secrets.

10. Is she currently in a romantic relationship with someone other than a spouse? No.

11. Who was her first crush? Who is her latest? Tom, her childhood best friend was also her first crush. Her latest would have been Jack Shephard, which has since ended.

12. What does she look for in a romantic partner? She gravitates towards men who are in honorable, helping professions - Tom was a doctor, Kevin a police officer, Jack a surgeon. She tends to want to be with men who make her feel and seem more respectable than her history suggests she is. On the other hand, she is also attracted to men who have a dangerous side, who can understand her need to be independent and don't bat an eye at her past or her tendency towards wanderlust.

13. Does the character have children? Grandchildren? If yes, how does she relate to them? If no, does she want any? Aaron is her "adopted" son. She tries hard with him and loves him fiercely, would do anything for him. She does not want any more children.

14. Does she have any rivals or enemies? She would consider anyone who is a threat to her or Aaron an enemy. Anyone associated with the Widmore Corporation. Ben Linus or any of his cronies, either on-island or off.

15. What is the character's sexual orientation? Where does she fall on the Kinsey scale? Straight. She'd get a 0 on the Kinsey scale.

16. How does she feel about sex? How important is it to her? She certainly enjoys sex. She takes it seriously, though - she's never had a one-night stand and will only sleep with someone when she feels a relationship could go somewhere.

17. What are her turn-ons? Turn-offs? Weird bedroom habits? Turn-ons: muscles, cologne, a bit of snark. Turn-offs: having to show vulnerability. Weird bedroom habits: Um, she only likes to sleep in her own bed? Nothing too strange.

Beliefs
1. Do you know your character's astrological (zodiac of choice) sign? How well does she fit type? She is a Gemini. I don't know enough about astrology to know if that fits Kate or not. On the show, Claire characterizes Geminis as "restless, passionate..." and that part definitely fits.

2. Is this character religious, spiritual, both, or neither? How important are these elements in her life? Kate went to Catholic Sunday school as a child, but is not religious or spiritual at all now.

3. Does this character have a personal code of morals or ethics? If so, how did that begin? What would it take to compromise it? Kate values loyalty above all. She'll break most other typical moral or ethical codes if it means protecting or honoring someone she's close to. She's both killed and risked her own life for it. This personal code began fairly early, but reached a new level of intensity when she found out the man she believed to be her father was not, in fact, her father.

4. How does she regard beliefs that differ from hers? Is she tolerant, intolerant, curious, indifferent? She's quite tolerant. She's not indifferent, but she respects others' rights to keep personal beliefs to themselves.

5. What prejudices does she hold? Are they irrational or does she have a good reason for them? She's not extremely prejudiced about anything. Sure, she doesn't trust most anyone, but that's a blanket mistrust and not reserved for any particular group or type.

Daily Life
1. What is the character's financial situation? Is she rich, poor, comfortable, in debt? Kate is comfortably wealthy, following a rather hefty settlement with Oceanic Airlines after the Oceanic Six's return from the island.

2. What is her social status? Has this changed over time, and if so, how has the change affected her? She grew up rural lower-middle class. On the island, she was part of the so-called "A Team" group of survivors, who became sort of de facto leaders. After her return from the island, she's upper class following the Oceanic settlement, and she's also a sort of local/national celebrity, both because she's one of the Oceanic Six, and because of her highly publicized murder trial. She's uncomfortable with her wealth and celebrity, but does use it to benefit herself and Aaron.

3. Where does she live? House, apartment, trailer? Is her home her castle or just a place to crash? What condition is it in? Does she share it with others? She lives in a large house in Beverly Hills. She's made it as much of a home as possible, but mostly for Aaron. If it was up to her, it'd be just a place to crash; she doesn't tend to stay in one place long enough for it to become a home, otherwise. Just she and Aaron live there now, after Jack left.

4. Besides the basic necessities, what does she spend her money on? She tries to make herself look like she fits the part of a wealthy Beverly Hills mother, so house, clothes, etc. Otherwise, she spends her money caring for Aaron, and she saves most of it. Never know when you're going to have to cut and run and need a good chunk of cash.

5. What does she do for a living? Is she good at it? Does she enjoy it, or would she rather be doing something else? She doesn't need the money, so she currently stays home with Aaron and doesn't have a job. Prior to the island, she worked odd jobs - in diners, on farms, and even crewing J-boats. She's not the career type.

6. What are her interests or hobbies? How does she spend her free time? She loves anything outdoors - hiking, mountain climbing, hunting, camping...though the latter two in particular have less of an appeal since the island. She enjoys riding a motorbike but doesn't have one anymore.

7. What are her eating habits? Does she skip meals, eat out, drink alcohol, avoid certain foods? She claims to be a vegetarian but isn't that strict about it. She can cook, likes chocolate and coffee in particular, and does drink alcohol.

Which of the following do you associate with the character, or which is her favorite:

5. Book? She's not much of a reader.
