Taxes, wealth redistribution and some common sense....

I had someone at work cause a dust-up with me today about "tax breaks for the rich."  This person was a dyed-in-the-wool Democrat and a Berkley grad.  It's sad how people get college degrees without understanding the very basics of economics and taxes.  So I pulled out an old example to put the cookies on a lower shelf and (hopefully) make someone ( Read more... )

I love that example.

How much better of a system would it be if each man just paid for his own meal with a divided check, so none of them is worried about what the other does or doesn't pay?

(I'm a proponent of abolishing the income tax and replacing it with a system of sales taxes and tariffs, per the teachings of Dr. Alan Keyes.)
