Thanks! Everyone seems to be commenting on this emotions of this chapter, particularly the last scene. I was hoping that it would pack a punch.

See you tomorrow for the next part!

It'll be interesting to see how the addition of Gwen affects the team dynamic. I somehow don't think Ianto is going to get the desired results from hiring her. Jack's having sex with Suzie didn't stop him from wanting Ianto, after all. I can't see him giving up on him for Gwen either.

Heh. I think you'd be right about Gwen and Jack not exactly sparking off the romance of the century, and definitely right about Gwen clashing with the Torchwood Ianto's created. Which was what made it such a fun chapter to write.

We'll see tomorrow!

Oooh, another chapter! Love this! I like that we're seeing a Jack that isn't weighed down by the emotions and responsibilities of being TW's leader. I can't wait to see how Gwen will fit in with the team, if she even does.

Exactly! This is a Jack much more similar to the one we meet in series one of DW, and that's fun to write. Really fun.

Gwen's entrance into the team is... interesting. This is a much colder, pragmatic Torchwood, and unlike Jack, Ianto doesn't bring her on because he thinks she can bring humanity to the team. You'll see tomorrow.

Thanks for reading and commenting!

This is really interesting. I love their role reversal and how Ianto is so level-headed but still visibly bears the burden of being the leader. I wonder how Ianto will handle Gwen once she's part of the team.

Thank you! I was actually really surprised that this trope hadn't been explored yet, as far as I could tell. I'd found things that came close, but this was the fic I was looking for--so I wrote it myself! I loved exploring the way that Ianto's and Jack's different coping mechanisms lead to such drastically different characters when you add or remove experience.

Gwen is definitely going to mix things up. If only Ianto had done a little more research into her before hiring her...

Thanks for reading and taking the time to leave a comment!

Whoa! I just started reading this and it's Amazing!!! I love how you've reversed the rolls. They're different characters in some ways but still the same despite the different roles. I'm dying to know what the deal with Grey is. & now Gwen's been thrown into the mix. I can't help but feel that Ianto might be trying to lure Jack away from his seduction of him with Gwen. Very excited to see where you go with this.

Oops! I've just realized that I forgot to link Part 4, which was posted earlier today, in this part. There's one more part that you can read! Go read it! It has Gwen in it!

And now that that's out of the way, thank you for the lovely review! I love exploring AU's, and the ways in which characters change and events play out differently. The Gray storyline in particular was fantastic, but this whole story was an absolute joy to write (note: this was my stress-release during final exams week, written in five-minute study breaks).

Thanks for reading, and taking the time to leave such a great comment. I'll be posting part 5 tomorrow!
