Another Season of "American Idol"

I don't think anyone can handle another American Idol!  Do we really need to hear thousands of pathetic singers try to impress three network and industry skewed judges break peoples hearts because they don't believe they have what it takes to sing pre-made pop?  Think about it for a minute, not a single prospect sings their own music.  Not a single ( Read more... )

actually, a lot of the contestants sing their own music, both the people who get rejected and later on when they make it to tv...ok, maybe not so many on tv...lol.

i love watching the first few episodes, because there are so many people out there who think they can sing, but can't.

I actually dug that show that was on The WB that had the worst singers ever. They actually had it stuck in their mind they had talent. I'll be honest, I know I can sing, but I could never make it as anything but a heavy metal backup singer while playing guitar.

hehe, i was just about to mention that show...Superstar or something, right? i dunno though, there's something a little off about it. i am not sure i believe that those horrible singers on the show weren't just paid actors. i mean, could you imagine the legal reprecussions coming out of a show like that after someone's humiliated on the last episode? pretty wild. it was, however, the most entertaining show i'd seen come out of prime time in a LONG time :D

Your probably going to yell at me... but... what about Tamyra Gray who writes lots of Idol's Music, or Kimberly Locke who just put a record out in which she wrote ALL the music, or even Clay Aiken who may not have the voice for pop, but could kill on Broadway, or Frenchie Davis who is on Broadway right now. These people are actually really talented.

Please dont hurt me...

Okay, fine, you make a good point. A true test of talent though is for someone to start from nothing, work their talent, get noticed, and go from there. Oh well.

The real damage is the impression it places upon 13 year olds like my sister. I was hanging out at home over the holidays and she walks up and says, "So, yeah, I'm gonna have to get a record deal so that I can get famous. . .". Then she starts talking about how her friends dad has a recording studio and all this crap about how she's going to record something and send it to music execs and the like. I asked her if that was her goal because she likes to sing and her answer was, "no, its because I want to be rich and famous and, ya know, be able to buy designer clothes". And then she started talking about American Idol . . .
