I heard Jake Heggie and Joyce Castle in concert tonight...not the biggest part of the story...it was amazing to get to hear Jake Heggie's brand spanking newest work. heh. It's so cool to meet living composers. I felt the same about Libby Larsen.

Funny story about Jake Heggie. He's from around here in a little community called Bexley (where my church job was). I was working with this girl at my Pizza job and she and I were talking about singing and such. She said, "one of my mom's best friends is a composer". I'm thinking..."Oh yeah... that's cool." Then she goes on to say that he just premiered his opera Dead Man Walking. I immediately knew who she was talking about. It really is a small world isn't it?... the music world.
