C.  Respond to one of the following quotations. Take a
position and provide thoughtful arguments in support
of it. The particular position that you take is not
important, nor is the original context of the
quotation.

e. The interior life is often stupid. Its egoism
blinds it and deafens it; its imagination spins out
ignorant tales, fascinated. It fancies ( Read more... )

Sometimes i think you're a pretentious dick-head who tries way to hard, and other times I think you're really onto something, and I'm just wasting my time with life's more base pleasures to the detriment of the stuff between my ears.

Reading all of your essays, I cannot decide whether I feel the former, the latter, or the synthesis of the two. Consider it neither a compliment nor an insult, just me, sitting here, scratching my head in wonderment.

I concur that I can easily be construed as a 'pretentious dick-head who tries way to hard' (though I think some of that can be reciprocated), however I would rather look at it more as caring a little too much about not caring at all, or caring too much all together. Maybe it is my treating most matters as laughing matters, and most laughing matters as more serious ones.

It genuinely upset me that you were so vehement in foaming faces at me the other day, and I had hoped that the cause was something out of my hands, wishful thinking I suppose. I enjoy you and your antics, which made it all the more upsetting to see such a dramatic change in tide (had the moon finally been gotten by the Swedes I thought?!).

In the end I hope the valley can shape me into something more respectable. I think you will agree with such an assertion.

(I got into Reed, thanks again for the weird early headsup)

I certainly agree that it goes both ways, im as imperfect as they come. You are you, and you should only change it ways you want to. I am twitchy and neurotic and picky and pessimistic, so i dont always see the best in people (you have more good than not, by spades! - i just have a tendency to exaggerate annoyance for less than great reasons, or none at all. Everyone has idiosyncrasies, and I think that youve got enough awesome, unique, quirky-in-a-better-than-wes-anderson way bits and pieces that i should step back and accept that the moments where our interactions are friction-ous are simply a part of it all, and shouldnt be focused upon so negatively.

Glad you got in.

A little mouse called me yesterday informing me of my acceptance to Reed College. When I asked when other kids would know, she told me that the e-mails would go out in the 'morrow, along with the thick packets. We then talked about JVB (Jesse Van) and when she asked on how I knew him, she seemed surprisingly disgruntled.

Needless to say, I hoped you would get in, and am glad that you did (as stated).

How does Reed rank in your gauntlet? Perhaps I will troll around Portland with you come 2010 (as most likely your inferior [credits do not seem to transfer all that well outside of the valley]), or possibly during a break?

How did you like the animation? I found it undeniably cute.
