how to wash your cat

Jun 01, 2010 15:33

I gave Lunchbox a bath yesterday, to get rid off all of her dead hair! Which a lot of people would think to be hard since, you know, she's a cat, and cats like water about as much as your average human loves internal parasites. But, I found out a pretty easy way of washing a cat that won't end in hospitalisation and I figured sharing is a good idea ( Read more... )

I wash Crandles from time to time, but I never thought about using that wiping water on her technique, her coat is *REALLY* thick. I mean *REALLY* thick. :| I put her in the sink and dump a cup of water on her and all it does is roll off her top coat. It would take 60 years to wash her if I didn't shove her in the sink (SORRY CRANDLES)

but she's a good cat and just has this :C face the entire time I wash her.

I need to wash her again though, she has a lot of dead hair I need to loosen out of her fat coat again. @_@

I wish her coat wasn't as thick so I could do a nicer method on her.

Lunchbox for the most part sheds all of her winter coat at once (fun.), but she doesn't really have thick undercoat like Crandles does, so I understand. u_u

I've never dunked Lunchbox in the water because I value my life at least a little bit, but when I gave her the bath yesterday she had this amazing half-pissed, half-sad look on her face. it was like >:| >:| :| :( :C

Do you have a slicker brush/cat brush? Just running it backwards across her fur'll pick up a lot of dead fur, and it's not as time consuming as a bath.

Yea. See this is the thing. Crandles *HATES* brushing more than she hates bathing. It doesn't make any sense at all, I know. She will outright hiss at me for brushing her, but yet will just have sadface for bathing. :| IDEK. my cat makes no sense.

Enkidu thankfully doesn't need a bath very often (I think I've only done it once), but I've bookmarked this for future reference, thanks!

How well do you think that corn starch trick works on short-haired cats?

The corn starch works well on any type of cat- generally it's used on longhairs because their fur naturally catches more, but I've done it with my own abyssinian and it worked on him, so. :) It's probably a lot easier to pat into their fur and clean, since there's less of a distance, too!

The only thing this post lacks is pictures. XD

But only because pictures of wet angry cats are hilarious.

when i use corn starch, how much should i use, and, do i really just pat it on? or do i kinda rub it in?

i just obtained a slicker brush for my Kouvu, and he doesn't mind it so much.

I got him a lion cut a few months back so his fur is still not as long as it can be.

also, do any of your cats have little white flakes in there fur that kinda resemble dandruff?

just sprinkle a bit in- less than a handful, more than a pinch. patting and rubbing both work well.

And I'm afraid not :(
