Oh yeah...
Every single word you wrote in here are so right.
Those are GOLDEN RULES which should be engraved on some marble plaques to put in Bast temple (like those human did with the 10 commandments thing).

Even better, for doors, is to grasp the knob between your front paws. If you're lucky it'll turn, and even if it doesn't, it'll rattle and annoy the humans into opening it.
